Worship Matters Part 1: The Leader
Last week we read part 1 of Worship Matters. The book follows a man through his journey of worship and correcting his view of life. The first chapter gives us a little bit of background as to what he has been through when he started worship and it teaches us the importance of worship. The next chapter talks more about what we are worshipping while we practice and play music. The third chapter was about the way that we should be looking at Christianity and how we should be studying it while we play to learn more about the reason why we play. The fourth chapter is about our skills and how we apply them in our lives. The final chapter of part one is about how we should conduct our lives outside of when we worship and how it might affect others.
These few chapters have really impacted my view of how I should personally act in and out of worship. In the first chapter the book talked about why is worship important. I felt the same way, I was confused as to what kind of impact this would truly have with other people. That is when the book tells you that worship does matter ultimately to God. We are doing this because it matters to God because "he is the one ultimately worthy of all worship." Throughout the whole book I felt at different times that this really applies to me. I've had moments where I worship idols without realizing it or I have used the Word incorrectly and this book brought these faults to my eyes. Now I realize that I have a lot of places in my life that I need to work on and this is the place to do it.

Very insightful! Sometimes I have also found myself worshipping idols without meaning to. It is important to recognize what areas of our lives need work. I enjoyed your application of the book to your own life. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way with idols. This reading made me realize how I'm not worshipping the right person. So don't worry dude we are in this together, we'll overcome the idol worship eventually!!
