Worship Matters Part 9: Chapter 13 ... with music ... part 2 planning sunday's songs

I believe that the main point of the chapter is explicitly stated for us in the title of this chapter. We need to plan out our songs that will be used for worship when we plan on worshiping. The biggest problem when we try to select songs for upcoming worship is that we try to find the songs that will benefit or highlight us or the music and will excite the audience when we should be trying to find songs for a God. We can follow ten principles stated in the book to guide our judgement when choosing songs. First we need to plan selectively, we must categorize the song choices and choose from the songs that communicate the truth about God in a clear and compelling manner. Second, we need to plan peacefully. We shouldn't panic if we haven't heard of a new song and should trust in a God to help us choose the right songs even if they aren't the one we were thinking of. Third, we need to plan prayerfully. We need to understand that God is there to help us through our prayers just as long as we take the time to stop and ask. Fourth, plan with other. We need to acknowledge that other may have great song ideas and that we need to trust and understand we don't have all the answers. Fifth, we need to plan with a theme. There are more but we just need to understand that we can go around to others. 

I can personally apply this to my life by learning to trust others and try to consult them when I am in trouble or need some help. We need to understand that we won't have all the answers and that we need to ask for help because we are imperfect and still make wrong decisions.
