The main focus of chapter eight would be the idea that we eventually, no matter how great your faith, will end up making God's greatness smaller than what it should be just because we end up being stressed with all the little things in our lives. Since we are human we often lose our perspectives on things very easily and this can inevitably lead to problems in our regular and spiritual lives. The author states that in order to truly appreciate God's greatness we have to be clear and specific. We need to remind everyone that joins us for worship of the greatness of God through our music. If our songs aren’t specific about God’s nature, character, and acts, we’ll tend to associate worship with a style of music, a heightened emotional state, a type of architecture, a day of the week, a meeting, a reverent mood, a time of singing, or a sound. This chapter brought a really large point into my view of worship and how worship leaders should act. It talked about the potential temptations that come with worship and what it truly means to be a faithful leader. He first brings to mind the potential temptations that a worship leader faces such as fame or the effects. These things can be the most dangerous to worship leaders just because we slowly get into the concert mindset and focus on trying to overwhelm the people in the audience instead of just trying to prepare them. Finally it brings to us the definition of what I means to be faithful to God as worship leaders and what we should not focus on. The book warns us that we will inevitably be criticized on things that we do and that it is not a bad experience but will help us grow in our relationship with God. I can directly apply my life to this because I'm always in the concert mindset whenever we go up to play during chapels or at my church. I feel pressured to do my best...

This time we only read one chapter from Worship Matters and this chapter was focused on what should we as worship leaders are and what we should do. At the beginning of this chapter he talks about how some people look at churches more for their worship teams instead of their preachers. How the worship team is starting to have a greater impact than the message. The chapter wraps up with a definition of what the worship leader should be and talks about how we are going to be analyzing his definition and going through the lines of his definition in the upcoming chapters. I have been in these situations before. I have wondered if the worship team is doing the right thing even though they might be taking away form the actual message. I have also chose churches based on their worship team instead of their messages. I feel like we will learn a lot more as we analyze the definition given to us of what a worship leader should be.

Last week we read part 1 of Worship Matters. The book follows a man through his journey of worship and correcting his view of life. The first chapter gives us a little bit of background as to what he has been through when he started worship and it teaches us the importance of worship. The next chapter talks more about what we are worshipping while we practice and play music. The third chapter was about the way that we should be looking at Christianity and how we should be studying it while we play to learn more about the reason why we play. The fourth chapter is about our skills and how we apply them in our lives. The final chapter of part one is about how we should conduct our lives outside of when we worship and how it might affect others.
